Our properties in Portugal and facilities in the UK are powered by renewable energy. Our subsidiary PLASMOTEC LTD is operationally carbon neutral* and we’re working on carbon reduction initiatives with our supply chain partners. We will continue to develop our products, transitioning from oil-based and synthetic materials to materials with enviro+ credentials wherever we can.
We are responsible for 4,500 acres of probably the finest cork forests in Portugal; it is a role we take seriously. For us, that means managing this exceptional eco-system sustainably.
In doing so, we’re preserving unique skills that have been passed down through generations, as well as contributing to the local economy. All the while, we’re securing the future of this wonderful natural resource for generations to come. The cork forests provide one of the richest sanctuaries of biodiversity in the world.
The forests shelter more than 160 species of bird, 24 species of amphibian and reptile and 37 species of mammal. Our ecological, economic and sustainable approach has been independently validated with an FSC accreditation.
